This study explores the importance of pedagogic
grammar in understanding the relationship between form and meaning in language
learning. Pedagogic grammar bridges the gap between theoretical linguistic
descriptions and practical classroom applications, enabling learners to
recognize how grammatical structures convey communicative functions. The study
examines the definitions and scope of pedagogic grammar, distinguishes it from
purely linguistic grammar, and analyzes the roles of form and meaning in
effective communication.
Furthermore, the research highlights instructional
approaches, including form-focused instruction and meaning-focused input, and
provides practical classroom applications for linking form and meaning.
Emphasizing these connections improves learners’ grammatical accuracy, language
awareness, and overall communicative competence. The study also addresses
challenges such as learner difficulties and teacher-related limitations,
offering insights into strategies that can enhance pedagogic grammar
implementation.
In conclusion, pedagogic grammar is essential for
effective language teaching, as it integrates form and meaning in meaningful
contexts, fosters learner understanding, and supports the development of
accurate, fluent, and contextually appropriate language use. This research
contributes to a better understanding of how grammar instruction can be
designed to maximize learning outcomes and communicative competence.
