Electronic Banking and Performance of Deposit Money Banks: A Study of Zenith Bank Wukari

This study examined the effect of Automated Teller Machines (ATM), Cybersecurity, and Online Transfers on the performance of deposit money banks in Wukari. A multiple regression analysis was conducted to assess the relationship between these digital banking factors and overall banking performance. The study adopted a descriptive research design, utilizing a structured questionnaire for primary data collection. Data were analyzed using SPSS Version 23.The findings indicate that ATM usage has a significant positive impact on banking performance (β = 0.421, p = 0.001), suggesting that improved ATM services enhance operational efficiency. Cybersecurity also played a crucial role in banking performance (β = 0.385, p = 0.002), highlighting the importance of robust security measures in reducing fraud and operational risks. Similarly, Online Transfers contributed significantly to banking performance (β = 0.397, p = 0.001), emphasizing the role of seamless digital transactions in improving workflow and service delivery. The regression model explains 73.2% of the variance in banking performance (R² = 0.732), with an adjusted R² of 0.719, confirming the model’s strong predictive capability. The F-statistic (18.67, p = 0.000) further validates the statistical significance of the model. The study concludes that digital banking components, including ATM services, cybersecurity, and online transfers, significantly enhance banking performance. It is recommended that deposit money banks in Wukari invest in advanced ATM technology, strengthen cybersecurity frameworks, and optimize online banking services to sustain and improve operational efficiency.
