Electrical Vehicles: Design, Challenges, and Environmental Impact; Nigerian as a Case Study.

The article investigates the potential of electrics (EVs) to transform transportation in Nigeria, while highlighting design conditions, adaptation challenges, and environmental impacts. It emphasizes the need for tailored solutions to promote EV uptake in the country. The article provides a comprehensive overview of electrical vehicles, encompassing its design aspects, prevailing challenges, and environmental impact. The design section delves into the core components of EVs, such as batteries, power electric motors, and highlights key considerations in the vehicle architecture. Subsequently, the challenges impeding EV adaptation are examined, including range anxiety, chagrining infrastructure, cost, battery life, and grid integration. The environmental impact of EVs is analysed by assessing its potential for emissions reduction, air quality improvement, and renewable energy integration.

The design of EVs suitable for Nigerian conditions must take into consideration factors such as high ambient temperatures and rugged road infrastructure. Key challenges including limited charging infrastructure, affordability, ad range anxiety. However, widespread EV adaptation could significantly reduce emissions and facilitate renewable energy integration.

To overcome these challenges, the authors recommend a multi-pronged approach, including investments in charging infrastructure, incentives for EV purchases, and public awareness campaigns. By addressing these barriers, Nigeria can harness the potential benefits of electric mobility and transition to a more sustainable transportation system.
