There is no denying of the obvious fact that Nigeria’s exploration of aerospace technology has reasonably progressed from satellite acquisition in 2003 to drone manufacturing and MRO initiatives by 2026, yet the sector remains greatly constrained by obvious structural challenges. This paper provides a systematic review of Nigeria’s aerospace frontiers across space, aviation, and unmanned systems, identifying six key challenges and six strategic prospects to 2030. Using NASRDA, NCAA, CBN, NBS reports 2020-2025 and 45 peer-reviewed studies, we apply SWOT analysis to assess the sector. Findings show achievements: 5 satellites launched, 36 airports operational, 450+ drone operators licensed, ₦400B+ annual aerospace GDP contribution. Nonetheless, the structural challenges with the sector include but not limited to 0.3% R & D/GDP funding, 4–8 month NCAA Part 18 regulatory delays, 90% import dependence on aircraft parts, lack of certified test ranges, power deficits, and brain drain. Admittedly, the obvious Strategic prospects observed include: equatorial satellite launch, MRO hub for West Africa, drone manufacturing for agriculture, satellite data commercialization, aerospace free zones, and PPP regulatory reform. SWOT analysis indicates high positive internal potential but regrettable external policy and funding constraints. The paper concludes that Nigeria has the potential to transit from aerospace “user” to “regional hub” by 2030 if challenges are addressed through targeted policy, PPP investment, and tiered capability building.
